– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

– 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 2 large eggs
– 2 tablespoons milk
– 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
– 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and salt.

2. In a large bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well blended.

3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

5. Grease an 8-inch round cake pan with butter and pour the batter into the pan.

6. Place the pan in a steamer and steam for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Let the cake cool before removing from the pan.
